Quote This!

Over the last few days I have had several of my movie buff buddies tell me that Inception and Toy Story 3 are the best movies they have seen in a long time. In addition to the surprisingly overwhelmingly positive response to both movies I found it interesting that two completely different movies are earning “A+” reviews from some of the harshest critics I know. My friend J.P. called them "the two best movies of 2010" and my friend Adam referred to them as "flawless." Those are some pretty big words from some pretty big movie guys!

While Inception is a mind-twisting thriller starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Toy Story 3 is an animated Pixar movie that features the voices of Tom Hanks and Tim Allen. I haven’t seen either one yet but after reading and hearing stellar reviews I might have to make it a point to see both asap.

In celebration of movie awesomeness here are a few lists:

  1. I would have to add "Clueless" to that list. Actually this morning Whitney texted me a picture of the playhouse she will be performing in in PA, and it looked more like a farmhouse to me. I replied, "she could be a farmer in those clothes."
The other day we also exchanged text messages that included:
"My doctor said I can't do activities where balls fly at my nose."
"Well there goes your social life!"

  2. I love and can quote lines from every movie on your comedy list. But i am HIGHLY disappointed by the lack of John Hughes movies on this list. Really?

  3. CSB- "Clueless" is a GREAT choice! I think people quote from that movie more often than they realize!

Dan- Good call with the John Hughes movies...."Breakfast Club," "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" and my personal favorite, "St. Elmo's Fire" are incredibly quotable!

  4. I only play classic rock at work, and everytime the Eagles come on I get "I'm having a really bad day and I hate the fucking Eagles!! (-Big Lebowski)" from all my cooks. Funny, but not appreciated.

  5. Carly--i use that eagles quote almost daily and i too find it incredibly under appreciated.

Laure--you missed the most quoteable movie ever: "Fletch." just a small collection of quotes:

Receptionist: May I help you Dr...?
Fletch: Oh, it's me, Dr. Rosenpenis.

Fletch: I'm afraid I'm gonna have to pull rank on you. I didn't want to have to do this. I'm with the Mattress Police. There are no tags on these mattresses.

Waiter: Would you like some drinks, SeƱor, while you wait? I will put it on the Underhills' bill.
Fletch: Yes, very good. I'll have a Bloody Mary and a steak sandwich and... a steak sandwich, please.

  6. Gail Stanwyck: What are you doing here?
    Fletch: I ordered some lunch.
Gail Stanwyck: You ordered it here?
Fletch: Well, I knew this is where my mouth would be.
